Hello everyone and thanks for your willingness to continue hosting the
website, Telebob. I'll wait until the last and send in whatever amount is
lacking. Would that work? I'm kind of confused about what amount we're
talking about now.....
I also very much appreciate your point of view about defense. I don't know
if I am what you'd call a "peacenik" or not, but peace is my preference
(duh). War and fighting are not my fortes. Although I am physically very
strong, I have never been in a physical fight in my entire life. Nurturing
life, healing and tending the home fires are my strongest calling. I do
realize, however, the importance of defending against brutality and assault
and I deeply honor those who have done so in the past and those who are
prepared to do so now and in the future. It is good to be prepared and to
have a confident demeanor, perhaps thereby warding away potential assaultive
behavior. The better the preparation, perhaps the smaller the chance for an
aggressive attack. I think that, at its best, there is integrity in a
defensive response to aggression: to control, rather than destroy, whenever
possible. The ability to control requires an intellectual, rather than a
violent solution.
So.
I am on the side of fighting when it comes from a place of deep integrity and
necessity. But my heart bleeds for our sons and daughters who will bleed and
die in this war. And for the mothers on both sides who birthed them, loved
and nurtured them and who will grieve for them.
Love, and standing awed by the paradox of sacrificing lives for the cause of
peace,
Carol
