the end game?

Wayne:
No China will not be marching into Afghanistan to the tune of "Onward
Christian Solders" - they will continue to march to the tune of "The East is
Red".  Every year China has over 2500 bombing incidents inside its borders,
many of them in Xinjiang.  China will now be calling these unhappy bombers
"terrorist" instead of count-revolutionists.  And, since they are fighting
"terrorists" they will be able to justify the use of extreme force against
them.  Remember the closing scenes of the movie "Tiananmen '89" in which the
tanks move in and mow down the kids in the dark of the night.  Well, that is
what they would like more freedom to do.  The "deal" with China is that Bush
will look the other way and say something like "way to go Jiang, get them
terrorists 'dead or alive', glad to have you on our side in the War on
Terrorists".  China wants the freedom to do anything it wants in Tibet and
Xinjiang without criticism from America - don't expect to see the Dali Lama
to be paying any visits to the White House.

As to China's dealings with Afghanistan - they have already been giving some
aid to the Taliban.  If the Taliban can pay cash then "private" corporations
of the Peoples Liberation Army (what a misnomer!) will continue to sell arms
to them - they need the money to fight terrorism.  Now that China, America,
and Russia are linking hands to keep the downtrodden in their place you can
imagine the world afterwards. Can happen.
