[Austin-ghetto-list] Talking with Sandy Lockett

I went over to visit with Sandy Lockett on Sunday.  It
was his 60th birthday.  He seems to be in good
spirits, and as Don Taylor said, gained a pound or
two.  Houston and Dian have set him up with a really
fine motorhome in the backyard of one of Houston's
rent houses on Red River.  As of yesterday, Joe Ben
tells me that he hasn't heard back about whether the
power and utilities are connected.  When connected,
Joe Ben will go over and hook up the computer that
Houston found at an auction.  Joe said he will give
him access to internet (and ghetto list) with a free
netzero account.  

NOTICE: we are not sure that there is a modem in the
computer that Houston scored.  If any of you have an
extra 56k modem around and would donate, please let us
know (joeben@yahoo.com). Houston also has a fax
machine over there, and that might be set up for use
for communication.

I found it difficult to visit with Sandy, trying to
read his tiny handwriting (and me without my glasses).
 Joe found a software on the net called "shit talker"
that synthesizes speech from the keyboard with
programmable quick keys, etc.  It sounds pretty neat,
as I heard it over the phone...comes already
programmed for various slang expressions, and he can
pick out his preferred voice of the day...heeehee. 
Anyway, we'll be ready to set that up pretty soon, and
if so, who knows what talking our friend will
eventually attempt.
