I have heard this story many times. It has occurred to me that, as an
ex-Naval guy, FDR (with concurrence from some others) found it useful to
send all the aircraft carriers out of Pearl...leaving the battleships
behind, thus sealing the fate of their use in the war. There is NO doubt
that it was the carrier's that won the major sea battle...plus, look at what
the Navy does today!

Here's an interesting thing I heard on NPR yesterday-- has anybody
heard the story about how British intelligence told Churchill the
information about the Japanese movement toward Pearl Harbor before the
attack, and Churchill,eager to get the reluctant USA into the war, kept the
info to himself? Pacifist, unAmerican conspiracy lies, or historical fact?
