Wayne-

I agree with kicking butt of somebody who flies planes
into buildings on your soil. I agree with blowing them
up in place in the 'Stan if you are sure who you are
bombing and know that's where the Atta boyz were
trained / financed / whatever.

But yeah, Ramsey opened my conscience (and reasoning)
a mile wide too - because as much as I detest the
Tali-banners and their agree-with-me or get hanged,
shot or amputated philosophy of violence (and their
repression of women), what we are doing in response -
from a legal rights standpoint - is absolutely illegal
under our own laws and Constitution, and under
international law as well.

If you caught any video of the World Court in the
Hague trying the Lybian Pan Am blower-upper, you will
note the Brit legal wigs they all wear - not exactly
US Justice Dept issue, say wot?

You couldn't even win a civil verdict (preponderance
of the evidence vs. reasonable doubt) in a US court,
or have a judge at any level find probable cause to
hold a lot of the Gitmo detainees. Frankly, the troops
should have toasted them in the 'Stan if they were
determined to "bring the Evil Doers to Justice."

But disassembling our own laws and even the most
fundemental common law principles to make the ends
justify the means in this case does us all a
disservice in my opinon. A mistake that I fear will
haunt us internationally, and begin to divide us
nationally once clearer heads on both sides of this
issue begin to think about it.
