your feelings about Martha Stewart

Mike,
It deeply disturbs me that someone of her extraordinary class and mental acuity, possessing an extraordinary range of knowledge about life's cultural refinements, could be paraded upon the legal grate over such a minor offence. The indictment reads like an interrogation at a witch trial, ie. "if you say you are 'not guilty' that proves that you are guilty." It is an unimaginable misapplication of justice--criminality based on veracity in public statements.
Geesus, since Geedoubleyou has cascaded lies upon lies to people here and around the world, with impunity, why, oh why are we focusing on her?
It is as if she were told, "You are on the train track and the express is a'coming, 'Don't move!" Then they saying, "You moved, and then said you didn't--by God. You are going to rot in prison for lying like that."
Could I be the only one who declares that something is awfully wrong with this picture?
I think the motivation behind these charges is because she makes a great scapegoat--"too smart for her own britches", snuffle snuffle, and "is a little like most guy's ex wives", snarl smirk. Get her, that uppity bitch--make her do time for the crime.
I was most impressed with David Letterman when he offered to personally pay $30,000 restitution for the ill gotten gain that is behind this trial and dismiss it for the trivia that it is.
I read the disrespectful book, "Martha Stewart, Inc." and found it "fattened" and repetitious with ad nauseum retelling over and over of a few boring and unsavory moments in her life--Lord knows we have all had a few of those--out of an otherwise stellar body of life's good works, spreading refinement to the masses. I only admire her more for being strong against this absurd legal affrontery.
Frances
