Texas Democrats are not expecting too much attention or help from the National Party, however, the candidate running against Tom DeLay will likely be receiving a lot of money from the Hollywood crowd, so I heard. True or not, I can not say.

Tom DeLay has been my congressman in the past, but prior redistricting has changed that, and I had a Democrat, Chris Bell who has been redistricted out. In fact when DeLay does not like the results of an election, say, an oppponent gets 30 something percent against him, he goes back and redraws the lines. I think I've got Culberson with the new lines, which is just as bad.

But, it is definintely time for DeLay to go, and it is our job (Harris County) to do it. So local Dems with help from outside the state are going to be working hard on the Democrat opponents' campaign. The candidate going against him (Richard Morrison) is a relatively unknown pol, but his partner Jim Blackburn is very high profile in supporting neighborhoods against big interests. He is the pro-quality-of-life, anti-TXDOT, anti-Toll Road, anti-Port of Houston lawyer. So Morrison, his partner, is in this race against DeLay for his first run for office. I'll keep you posted on the race. We're also getting ready for a campaign push to get our Republican State Rep replaced with a Democrat. Not easy, but doable.

Kerry has a group that gathers nearby at the Whole Foods upstairs community room to 'primary watch' on Tuesdays, and organize for local campaigning on Thursdays. Regularly 20-30 people show up, which sounds like a lot to me. As I said, no money is being spent by Kerry down here.
Some of the discussion goes to voting, such as 'hang onto your ballot sequence code number' (whatever that little slip of paper is that you get to enter on the computer and get an electronic ballot). Our precinct chairs are going to save the paper tapes that will match to those numbers, if...well, you know...
