Ghetts,
Mr. Rubinson invited me to announce to this list that he has started a new blogsite, (link below,) and you are most welcome to check in to it, and subscribe if your wish. That would also save me the effort of forwarding some of the more pithy items. I am trying to get the hang of the blogsite, too, since David does come up with some startling revelations and is acquainted with our own telebhab, who first brought us the news from David Rubinson, intrepid political correspondent.

We'll see if Condi comes off anything like Anita Hill as the grillee this time out. I wonder which cable station will get to carry it.

Subject: [DRANT] Minstrel Show

Let's look at the Condoleezza thing ----
To me, it's a cynical Cheney/Rove scapegoating and media manipulation MINSTREL SHOW.
They are demonizing the clueless Condi- setting her up for The Big Fall-
The WOBN (White Old Boys Network) all cakewalk and the colored girl gets sent to the woodpile, in a MINSTREL SHOW for the New Century.

In his 1974 book "Blacking Up: The Minstrel Show in Nineteenth Century America,"
Robert C. Toll pointed out that performance in blackface descended to full-scale
stereotyping aimed at the supposed incompetence of blacks just as they were gaining
their freedom and becoming a threat to poor whites.
Toll identifies Zip Coon (an urban dandy out of his depth) and Sambo (a shuffling
rural fool), the first making fun of black people for being free and the second for
being slaves. --- Kelly Kleiman, In These Times

Can U see it ?
Bush wasn't there. Cheney was busy filling his tank. Rumsfeld smirks that he never HOID of any Clarke meeting, or important Osama news.
That leaves po' lil Liza .
They have put her out there on the Circuit, ostensibly to defend herself against Richard Clarke, but in truth- to take the hit for Massuh George.
They tell her, it's YOU that Clarke is talking about, Condi.
You gotta go out there and defend yo seff.
Massuh sho nuff been good to me, and ah does what he sez ta do.
Massuh raised her up from the Hoover Plantation, and brought her to work in da House.
It ain't about to be Zip Coon Rumsfeld who be taking this slagging. And you KNOW it won't be Massuh George.
It be lil Liza ?
And clearly she is book brilliant and life stupid enough to bite.
Poor Condi is gonna run run run through the fields, dogs barking at her bare feet, but boy they catch her fo sure.
Who do you think will be scapegoated bigtime ?
Conned Old Leezza.
Thass who.
Can you hear Massuh George's sad speech when he announces that he has reluctantly accepted her resignation ?
Will bring a rightful tear to the eye, a small choke to the breath.
Po Po Liza, she gone now.

Quote of the day:

"Under the influence of politicians, masses of people tend to ascribe the responsibility for wars to those who wield power at any given time. In World War I it was the munitions industrialists; in World War II it was the psychopathic generals who were said to be guilty. This is passing the buck.

The responsibility for wars falls solely upon the shoulders of these same masses of people, for they have all the necessary means to avert war in their own hands. In part by their apathy, in part by their passivity, and in part actively, these same masses of people make possible the catastrophes under which they themselves suffer more than anyone else. To stress this guilt on the part of the masses of people, to hold them solely responsible, means to take them seriously. On the other hand, to commiserate masses of people as victims, means to treat them as small, helpless children. The former is the attitude held by genuine freedom fighters; the latter that attitude held by power-thirsty politicians."
Wilhelm Reich, The Mass Psychology of Fascism

In World War I it was the munitions industrialists; in World War II it was the psychopathic generals who were said to be guilty. This is
passing the buck.

(Thanks to Information Clearing House)

Do you Yahoo!?
