The story goes, sir, that when JFK made his first (and perhaps last) address
in Berlin before the Wall, he uttered the phrase, in German, that he was "a
Berliner." It was the understanding of many...who did not laugh but merely
squirmed....that a "Berliner" was a sort of sugary doughnut. Not so?
