This week the Senate is in recess, so Republican leaders are at home trying desperately to persuade a skeptical public that their power grab somehow makes sense. It’s amazing that despite millions of dollars spent on advertising and public relations they have yet to make their case. 

They know they can’t win on the merits, so the right-wing ideologues have resorted to personal attacks. They have attacked Senator Kennedy and other Democratic leaders.
