Thanks, Gerry,
I liked your philosophical notion of a choice of final resting place. That is a cool way of describing where you've been in contrast to where you ended up. I have a definite idea or two about where I wouldn't want one speck of ash to end up.
Indeed, a statue of Ronnie Earle is certainly in order, though it ought to be sited across Town Lake from that of SRV, so as not to tip over the lake.
Chris Bell and David Van Os are the brightest lights in the Democratic Party fimament here in Texas since the Primary. They campaigned with an articulate liberal populist theme that was most refreshingly welcome to many ears. They could eventually go national, more effectively that RE who is more the litigator than the campainger. Wish you could be here to vote in November.

And your party got trumped on a regular basis by Karl Rove who replaced
virtually all state and national elected officers with repubs. Started with
John Hill (we had a band that played at some of his rallies). John didn't
overwork himself and Bill Clemmons and Rove snuck the election away. Been
downhill since then.
Ronnie Earl? Yeah, he used to drink with us sometimes as I recall. I
remember being around him and it was likely social--did not appear before
him. Now if he can lead a revolution that puts dems back in office in
Texas...naw, but he has never been afraid to clamp down on wretched excess.
Feather in his cap. Deserves a statue next to Stevie Ray Vaughn at Town
Lake.
This makes me wonder, how long does one have to be a resident of another
place before one rids oneself of past identity? I decided that it's when you
start talking about homefolk as they instead of we...and when you come to
realize that you will likely be buried here rather than there.
