Mike, Wayne-- Brando wasn't a real hater of the Jewish people. Although he
noted in his "outburst" on the Larry King show that Jews ran Hollywood, and
followed up with the comment that Hollywood shows every negative stereotype
of various ethnic groups except for Jews ("They never show the kike" ),
Brando, a strong believer in helping oppressed groups, felt that Hollywood
should do more to promote racial understanding. After the 1996 flap, among
Brando's defenders was Jay Kanter, Brando's longtime agent, producer and
friend.

"Marlon has spoken to me for hours about his fondness for the Jewish people,
and he is a well-known supporter of Israel," Kanter told Daily Variety.

In an early stage appearance, Brando had a role in the 1946 salute to
Israel, "A Flag Is Born."
He also sent his children to Jewish schools in LA, which would be out of
character for a true Christ-loving anti-semite like Mel Gibson.

back from Burgundy with many paintings. some will apparently
be published in the art foundation's next catalogue.

i dont try to keep up the names of those what hate me for my
wretched choice of parents. they are legion. Ramsey Wiggins
for starters, his brother Lanny, there are others. Mel Gibson,
how 'bout him? Louis Farakhan the black violinist. How amazing
to see and hear him play Mendelsohn's Violin concerto so
competently.

Mike.

Just read an interesting op-ed piece on line by one Rabbi Gellman who
comments that among Hollywood's most famous stars, Errol Flynn (whom I
already knew about) and Marlon Brando were known to be anti-Semites. Well,
the latter is news to me, but I am going to assume that on this issue Rabbi
Gellman is rather more informed on the subject than I.

Have you heard this before?

How are you doing and is your wonderous bride back from Europe as yet?
