Another point well made. For those of us who are hopelessly out of touch, what is the name of this new Bond movie. I have the VCR version of Heat which I plan to watch at some point.
Best,
Frances

To successfully pursue legal action against any kind of "public official" who compiles admittedly false or in-correct information in the course of their "doing their official duties" is almost impossible. I would say completely impossible in Texas. You need an attorney with awfully deep pockets or Harvard job or a massive amount of money.
Private parties can be sued, but "agents of the/a government" are virtually immune. Ever notice how many "slanderous" or "caluminous" (?) remarks get made in Congress...but never make it officially into the Congressional Record? Recall that the FBI even compiled a file on Frank Sinatra? Had about as much legal validity as a canned of smoked herriing but there it was.
I used to think the only way for people to remain free and retain their privacy was simply to shoot the offending officer or officers. This is, of course, wrong and impractical and certainly illegal. I would never recommend it to anyone these days.
On the other hand, knees are so fragile.....
See the new Bond movie. Full of interesting insights into government behavior...uh...behaviour.

I don't know Helen Y. but if it was me I'd be looking into filing a slander lawsuit.

Mike,
...Do you appear on any of the surveilance lists? Were you characterized as sexually promiscuious or drug addled? Would you want to see your name bantered about on such a list as this? Are you a transgressive sexual?
