[AGL] Figi House & Casino Royale

In the spring of 1968 I was approached by a campaign worker of Dolph's and
asked for some creative ideas re: a radio commercial. I was playing drums in
the Conqueroo at the time and we all started trying to think of something
catchy for the commercial. By the time we got down to the deal the only
music was me playing a high hat behind some fast political rhetoric. He
didn't win that time around. But years later I was in the labor movement and
part of a group that met with Dolph on a regular basis (monthly or so) for
breakfast in the Gov's Mansion.

For a Texas governor I think he was a decent man who honestly tried to
govern with a fair hand...and I think he got away with it. His wife was a
driving force in his life, a beautiful boot tough Texas dame who was as
sharp as they get, "Janie" I believe. Anyway, it was fun and he had decent
relations with labor and our support, and I smile when I hear his name and
think of the fat sausages, fluffy scrambled eggs with herbs and onions
blended in, and perfect biscuits they put together in the Mansion at
breakfast time... End of tale.

"Dolph, Dolph, he's our man
Texas is Briscoeland..."
