Mike,
I know what the Ghetto was. I was there many times. I had good friends who lived there -- Clark Santos, Mike Hanks, Roger Baker. I went to Ghetto parties. Tary Owens was a dear friend and associate. Over the years friends and colleagues have included Jack Jackson, Billy Lee Brammer, Jim Baldauf, (Billy) Jim Strong, Bob Simmons, Byron Black, David McQueen, Stephanie Chernikowsi, Wayne and Honor Johnson, Ed Guinn, Houston White, Vickie Lynn Devereaux. Those come to mind. I believe at least some of them lived in the Ghetto complex. I knew Fontaine and Kathy Doyle and Pepi Plowman and others then, though I know them better now. And Frances.
When I asked how you define "Ghettoite," I meant, did one need to have actually lived there to qualify in your mind? Guess I'm an outlander.

The Ghetto was an apartment house west of
Dirty's hamburger joint with cheap apartments.
there were parties there every weekend at
the least, the peyote buttons would be cooking
down in a big iron pot on the stove, beer was
drunk, girrrls were seduced, folk music was
played. the other pole of this subuniverse was
the Chuck Wagon, 7 cents a cup of coffee and
not worth it.
the austin-ghetto-list is a successor to a Yahoo
list set up by Connie Clark in aid of having a
reunion of us ghettoistas. the reunion was held
at Tary Owens and Mary Ann Price, there were
actually a number of reunions there. t-shirts
were printed, a ghetto Web site was set up
with photos and tall tales.
as i said, as this means nothing to you, you would
probably be happier and better off elsewhere.
