I pass this Frank Rick piece concurring in agreement with it. Despite proof that Obama didn't need disappointed Hillary supporters enough to even toss us the bone of mentioning his worthy primary opponent, who campaigned as spiritedly for him as the nominee as she did in her own race, in his victory speech, I am pleased that the country has returned the Democratic party to power.
I have every expectation that the positive, progressive spirit of this country will improve with the new regime. It can't sink much lower than Bush is leaving it, floundering in the swill of war, Rovian cynicism, constitutional crisis and economic disaster.
As a woman I am not comforted by the treatment of both Clinton and Palin by the powerful. While not breaking barriers the feminine presence in this election merely illustrated for me that evidence of misogyny in this society is even more pernicious than I ever would have expected.
Best,
Frances
