Hi Michael,
As you can tell by my general lack of correspondence to Fontaine's list,
I am not the most prolific responder in the world. I guess I was just
in the mood yesterday.
Gilbert and I go back a million years. He brought his Wonder Wart Hog
idea to Lawrence, Mass. when he came to my family's house for
Thanksgiving while he was working on a hotrod magazine in NYC and I
wrote the script for the first one. In 1962, I stayed in his Eastside
apartment and helped him with the Ranger. It was a great time. Just
the other day, Gilbert wrote and asked if I remembered the Giant
Ice-Cream Eating Contest of '62, in which the Ranger team took on the
Daily Texan squad, four of us in all. Those four were Billy Strong,
Clark Santos, Tami Dean and myself. Shelton said I was the only survivor
of this classic event, a fact which didn't enthrall me, I can tell you.
We're obviously running out of people who shared those times. No
promises, but I could probably throw in a remeniscence every now and then.
Appreciate your thinking of me. Appreciate ANYBODY thinking of me.
Howdy to Susan Todd, one of your listees.
Bill Killeen
