Subject: [AGL] social notes from hereabouts and thereabouts: manikins above us

i walked to the UT area yesterdayt to score a slice of pizza
in the food court of Dobie Center up Lavaca and came upon
bicycles and bicyclists and again and yet more. at 18th &
Lavaca i noticed a group of people on a balcony of a new
cheap looking residential hotel and then noticed they
weren't moving and then realized they were creepy
life-sized manikins placed there (1) as a marketing device
for the creepy new hotel (apts from $775 a signage read)
or (2) some other reason.

a huge bicycle event was transpiring, expiring, at the finish
line with a loud sound device playing loud music and
a woman commentator making jokey remarks as the
bicyclists "finished" through the Finish Line. some hundred
white tents had been set up sponsered by hi-tech companies
where food was being dealt out to 1 and all. 2 blocks north
walking all alone through the campus itself, a loud radio
intruded and i turned around to see a Chinese youth
riding a motorized unicycle fast with blue LED lights
flashing and its radio turned up loud. In front of me he
dismounted and turned the radio off - silence -> loudness ->
silence
