This will certainly be an interesting thread. 

This seems like a good time to point out a new feature of the upgraded Jacob-list.  From now on, all  messages are archived and on the WWW immediately.  Take a look at http://www.pairlist.net/pipermail/jacob-list/ .  As this discussion progresses, all contributions on the topic will be saved and grouped when the messages are sorted by thread.  Unlike the previous hot political topic, if those who aren't on the list want to see the entire discussion, they can now do it and get a complete picture.  Anybody contributing on this thread or any other should recognize that whatever they say will be publicly available exactly as they said it.  

Another list tip:  When you hit reply, you are replying ONLY to the person who sent the message to the list -- NOT to the entire list. If you want the entire list to get your reply, use "Reply to All" or the equivalent in your email software.  You can also CC: the message to jacob-list at jacobsheep.com.
