I would have posted earlier, but my server was down all weekend (grrr), and
then Monday the power kept going off because of the storms, and yesterday a
friend came over for the evening. Anyway, my ram lamb Bravo DID have
flystrike, the vet called me Friday morning to let me know. He's doing fine
now, fortunately. I asked the vet what's the best way to prevent flystrike
and she said "dock early." She knows about sheep, too, since she used to
have 30 or so. Bravo's docked now and I also cleaned the shed out really
extra well and cleaned up around the pasture and put lime down in a couple
of soggyish boggy places that looked like they might breed flies. I
remember someone mentioning in a post I naturally accidentally deleted that
they use fly repellent. What kind would be safe for lambs? I want to avoid
this ever happening again if possible!
