[Jacob-list] Night Lights for Sheep

Hi Mary and all,
In my experience, which is miniscule to many out there, I have had ONLY early morning and daytime lambings. Out of the 4 years that I have had Jacobs, I have lambed 3 years. I had no lambs last year--couldn't find a ram that I liked. But next Mar. and Apr. with my brand new ram I should have a plethora of lambs, all guaranteed to be ewes. (Just kidding, Diane.) We'll see if the night light equals daytime births. Anyone else with any thoughts on the subject?

Do you folks with lights on find that they lamb day and night? I have turned off the corral lights and turned on a front barn light at coyote deterent along with a BLASTING radio. Now I'm creeping around with a flashlight during lambing and wondering if it's REAL. The lambing certainly IS....but the light thing.

Hi Folks,
We have three yard lights (like street lights), one being in the central lot in front of the barn. The sheep have about 20 acres to roam in, divided into 6 pastures which are all open now since the grass is nearly gone. Every night the whole flock gathers under the light in front of the barn and they all lie in the circle of light. Nobody sleeps in the dark. I guess they feel safe in the light and it doesn't bother their sleep. (Then they would have to count people, ha-ha).
