Hi all,
Robin C mentioned a ram going all out to keep the ewe to
himself.....reminded me of the most heartbroken ewe lamb I ever saw...
She was her mom's darling single ewe from the spring. She had never formed
good friendship bonds with other animals in the flock. Mom went into heat
and we absolutely adamant that she wanted that ewe lamb AWAY from her man!
This was, incidentally, the only ewe that did not waltz off in the woods
with this particular ram one more time AFTER she took.
I know that sounds odd, but that particular year, all of my ewes took an
extra 24 hours off to themselves with the ram (even during rain and no
shelter where they went) that corresponded to 2 weeks after
conception----meaning they conceived the first trip out but went again.
That boy must have looked like Robert Redford to everybody but Flora!
