Peter:

Just curious - in your opinion, why is the "polycerate trait definitely
worth preserving"?  If this trait leads to higher mortality, wouldn't
evolution of the species in time eliminate this trait in a natural
setting?  In the domestic setting, wouldn't it be good animal husbandry
to attempt to  eliminate traits that lead to higher percentages of
mortality?
