Joy and all,
A bucket of water to moisten the clay works wonders. The only time I
have had to get out a shovel is when rocks were wedging the t-posts on
both sides. I have pulled many a post and bent 2-3. They do get weak
with age. I have some that are about 12 years old now, and they don't
take much shoving on before they change positions.
I also would ONLY move t-posts under major duress during a dry season.
You are much smarter to plan those moves around the rainy season---which
we didn't have this spring nor last year. :o)

Think it depends on the soil you have!! Where I live,
I couldn't dig up anything with a shovel mid-summer --
the ground is like cement! Would one of the post
pullers work? I'd love the flexibility of being able
to move portable fencing.
