Regarding the ewe with paralysis:  This year we observed one of our rams
breeding one of our ewes 11 times successively.  A day or so later I
noticed that she was limping - I caught her, examined her hip, leg, foot,
hoof - everything seemed fine and after a few days she stopped limping. 
The only thing I can attribute it to was some sort of injury resulting
from the  breeding frenzy -- oh yes, and did I mention that after the
11th time the ram nearly fell over onto the ground and was obviously one
very tired fellow!!!
