I am new to breeding so who knows what I would do with an oh so cute
lamb looking at me plaintively. I'm guessing that I would rescue it but not
breed it. I think that I am with Sue in that I would ship it off to be a
pet and not keep it as a breeder. I might breed the ewe again to see if the
problematic lamb was a fluke or the norm for that ewe. If it were the norm,
she wouldn't get bred again and she would become someone's pet or dinner,
unless she had a super fleece. I do think that if we are interested in
preserving a rare breed we are not doing the job if we keep marginal
individuals in the gene pool. It certainly is an interesting debate.
I work with emotionally disturbed kids and sometimes have cynical
Darwinistic thoughts about how humans are reproducing....
