Hi there,

A friend of ours has an Australian Shepard puppy that got mites.  The vet prescribed Ivermectin to kill the mites, but it almost killed the dog.  Apparently some breeds of dog (inc. collies and Aust. shepards) don't have a necessary protein in their brain, making them react in much the same way as the mites.
