HELLO LINDA, ET ALS...
WE USUALLY END UP WITH A COUPLE OF LILACS WHICH ARE
ATTRIBUTABLE TO FAIRVIEW JOY WHICH WE PURCHASED FROM
MONIQUE VEN DE VER (I HOPE I HAVE THE LAST NAME
CORRECT)BACK IN 1996. WE ALSO HAVE A COUPLE OF LILAC
RAMS, SO DEPENDING ON WHICH OF THE RAMS WE USE FOR
BREEDING, WE CAN EITHER EXPECT OR NOT-EXPECT TO HAVE
SOME LILACS.
I'M PARTIAL TO THE "TRADITIONAL-LOOKING" JACOB, WITH
NICE BLACK FACIAL MARKINGS AND ABOUT 25-30% SPOTTING.
BUT, JUST LIKE OUR JACOBS, I REALIZE THAT WE ARE ALL
DIFFERENT (FORTUNATELY) AND OUR INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES
FOR THE "IDEAL" JACOB ARE EQUALLY AS VARIED.
HAD TWO MORE SETS OF TWINS BORN LAST NIGHT---ALL EWES.
THE DAM OF THE ONE SET OF TWINS IS A 50-50 JACOB X
SCOTTISH BLACKFACE CROSS. SHE WAS BRED TO A CVM. THE
OFF-SPRING ARE VERY STRIKING; ALMOST FAWN-LIKE IN
APPEARANCE. BOTH WEIGHED IN AT SLIGHTLY MORE THAN 10
LBS A PIECE AND ARE VERY LONG-LEGGED.
ARE LAMB COUNT IS NOW AT 26: 19 EWES AND 7 RAMS. WE
STILL HAVE ANOTHER 25 EWES TO LAMB. FORTUNATELY, THE
WEATHER HAS BEEN MILDER HERE IN THE EAST WHICH HAS
BEEN A BLESSING FOR MID-FEBRUARY LAMBING.
REGARDS,
BOB MAY
