I don't consider bears to be a threat to my sheep.  The thought that one might take down a fence is a worry.  When the bear went over the pasture fence at my neighbor's to raid the beehives, the fence was still intact and not much lower than before, so hopefully that it wouldn't be a problem.  There were goats in an adjoining pasture that didn't seem at all disturbed.  I don't think I'll put beehives in my pasture, though!  The biggest danger with the bear was probably to Dave's idiot 17 lb dog, who was trying to get through the screen to attack the bear.  My 85 lb dog was on her way down the stairs to crawl under the bed.  

The most deadly predators in our area are pet dogs.  A little further south of us, coyotes are a bigger problem for sheep.  We do have coyotes around here, but they seldom venture onto farms and the losses have been confined to poultry.  We have alot of national forest land in this county and I guess there is plenty to eat in the forest.
