[Jacob-list] conditions on sales

From what Melody said, I'd guess this lamb didn't come from a JSBA/JSC member. It sounds like a buyer that just bought a "cute" lamb without much regard to breed. And a seller that sold a lamb without much regard to its future.

I don't sell many pet lambs for a couple of reasons. I seldom wether ram lambs. I can sell them to the ethnic market as rams or we can put them in our freezer if they don't develop the way I'd like. I also don't care to see ewes have been sold as "pet" quality showing up in public.

The condition I'd love to be able to put on sales is a clause that lambs are submitted for registration. I toy with the idea of not letting lambs go until I have submitted the registration or offering a "rebate" when/if the buyer submits the lamb for registration.
