[Jacob-list] Showing Jacobs in all breed shows

I think it depends upon the judge.

This year I helped a bit at the Jr. Ewe Wools Breeds
Sheep Show at the NC State Fair. My kids showed a
Jacob and a Shetland.

I had a chance to talk with the judge during a break.

He said he judges the sheep 60% on their wool, 40% on
their conformation (show rules). I asked how he judges
a mixed class -- Romney-type large sheep and Shetlands
in the same class. He said he attempts to envision ALL
the sheep the same size and adjusts for size. THEN he
calculates wool yield per sheep and judges
accordingly.

Hope this makes sense!

p.s. If there was a Jacob class at SAFF, we might be
interested. Think daughter will be showing angora
goats there next year. We'll see!
