[Jacob-list] Working sheep

Robin has a piece of equipment that maybe she can say
something about that she can run her sheep into one by
one and then it traps them and she can turn the sheep
in any position she wants to work on any area. It is
great for a bad back because you work at a standing
level.
   Here we use some light weight panels that are
attached to the fence at one end and  while the sheep
are distracted in the corner with grain in a
feeder....and they are so excited about the grain it
always works.....you swing the panels around them and
fasten it to the  fence on the other side so they are
trapped in one corner.  The secret is to make the area
the sheep are in as small as possible so no one gets a
running start to jump.  with them all crowded into
each other it is easy to just grab a collar and get
your chore done.  Then let the treated sheep out the
end and make the area that much smaller.  Our sheep
are handled a bit and so are not too wild so maybe
that makes this easier than sheep that are not in
contact with people twice a day.Victoria
