[Jacob-list] AGM

Linda

You are right, not all people show their sheep. It is a lot of hard work, money and time to do so. Sometimes, I am requested to bring more than my fair share just to fill a class at MSWF double the required amount of 7. It is by no means a picnic preparing for a show but I do love to show mine. They (Jacob) might not like it but I do it is fun (at times).
Plus it gives me a chance to see other Jacob breeders that I wouldn't get a chance to see. No matter I am sure with Joan's assistance we can get the required amount or a least close to it for the NJ State Fair. I am just surprised that after getting the Fair to hold this class the JSBA decides that it is not important.

I never implied that the small breeder who doesn't show sheep is of no importance and no, sheep shows are not the only way to promote the breed. At this show my family not only shows Jacobs but puts together a display with the JSBA and JSC brochures, information, and sheep for the Heritage Tent all week long, 215,000 people attend the fair each year and a good portion of them love to see the Jacob Sheep.

No Linda, I know you will not miss me, you really don't know me, I just a small insignificant breeder in NW New Jersey that opinions or concerns aren't important to the JSBA I am just one of many.

And no I am not leaving the JSBA I just might rethink my priorities when it comes to their support I might have too many conflicts in the near future.

Peggy

Jacob Sheep are not just show sheep and there are alot of breeders that don't give a fig about shows. I'm excited that so many Jacob owners that only have a few Jacobs and never show will be attending our AGM. It's not all about showing. It's also about breeders that just love Jacob Sheep. It's just as important to promote Jacob Sheep to the breeder that doesn't show, doesn't care about fleece, doesn't care about selling lambs, and just gets a kick out of seeing their sheep.

Don't think that these breeders are less important than those that show. And don't think that sheep shows are the only way to promote our breed.

I hope you are not saying that you will leave JSBA because our AGM conflicts with your show?? I'll miss you.

Linda
