[Jacob-list] names?

Our farm name (Perfect Spot) was chosen just prior to our actual move to 
our current location in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains in 
western NC.
At that time, it seemed like the "perfect spot" for us to settle with 
our small flock and I liked the tie between the name and our spotted sheep!

The "rest of the story", as some of you know, is that this "perfect 
spot" turned out not to be that for us.  We enjoyed the quietude and 
beauty of this area for about a year before the changes started to 
appear and now (seven years later) it is hardly the same place;  western 
NC  was "discovered" by developers, the timber lands are disappearing by 
the truckload, and our farm is now surrounded by two (of many) 
subdivisions of upscale vacation homes that have sprouted in this area. 

We recently (again) went on a quest for the "perfect spot" for our 
little farm, when we were successful in selling this place, and if all 
goes as planned, we should be moving once more to a NEW "perfect spot" 
within a couple of months...still in this general area so that no job 
changes were necessary,  but in an area with many small, established farms.

Naming lambs is usually a challenge for me.  My usual method for naming 
lambs is that the lambs receive a name starting with the same letter as 
the mother's  name, unless there is a special case.  We have 22 lambs to 
date, and only one of them has a "for sure" name as yet and she is a 
"special case".  Our youngest daughter and husband are expecting their 
second child this summer.  Several weeks ago when they learned that the 
new baby will be another girl,  big sister Reilly  (age 5) was 
determined that her new sister should be named Violet.  Her mom and dad 
had other ideas, and Reilly was upset that her name was not going to be 
used.  That same week our first lambs of the season arrived, and one was 
a little lilac ewe...whose name will be Violet (even though my "system" 
would have given her  an "m" name).  Naming the babies with the same 
letter as the mother's name just helps me mentally keep things straight 
as I try to learn new names and faces.   This year so many arrived in 
such a short period of time (15 the first week, 7 the second week, and a 
few more to go) that it is going to be a challenge to get all those 
names and faces straight!  We hope to have them up for viewing soon, 
although they may not yet have names!  I'm working on that!!
