The one llama chased the coyote away after coyote left a muddy print on the sheep (pix of this is article) while the other three llamas took the sheep to the barn. I almost always have two or more guards except overnite on shearing day when we have to put most in the barn to get/stay dry.

So, did the llamas chase the coyotes away? Did the coyotes do any damage? I have heard that one llama is good against only one coyote; if there's a second, it will make an end run around the llama who is spitting at the first coyote, or whatever they do to attack.

Besides Jacobs and Churros I also have guard llamas. We had a coyote attack here in Aug 2005 and I wrote it up and it was an item in the ILRreport in Oct 2005 (those of you with llamas may have seen it). I was asked to expand upon this for an article in the International Camelid Quarterly (CQ) and did so. The article will be in the March issue due out soon. I will be getting a copy (minus the ads) I can make prints of and share in its entirety for those not regular subscribers (rather expensive journal) . Your libraray may also have a copy of the journal. I may put a copy up on an internet site run by geocities. If anyone is interested; let me know. Llamas are not reccommended for bears or wild cats, however.
