[Jacob-list] Registered vs. unregistered

We are going through this same argument on the
Haflinger web about registered and unregistered.  I do
not recall anyone on this list being rude????  I
belong to several horse and carriage driving lists as
well as this list and I guess I know there are always
some people who state things directly and could be
more diplomatic...but that is true of checkers at the
grocery store too. 
   What I always try to remember is that the people
who are supporting registration are the ones who have
done all the work on the web page, the member
listings, etc. so that if people for example want to
know more about the breed, you will have a web page to
refer them to. I certainly appreciated there being a
web page when I was just starting out!   This comes
out of the money we pay for registration, plus we pay
to have ourselves listed as farms.  Without these
people and those of us who pay registration, there
would be no/or less information you could use to learn
about and market the breed.
   IN Great Britian, as Juliet will tell you, they
crossed their Jacobs and now the original registered
Jacob is gone and it is only here in the United States
that we have the "original" breed that came in the mid
last century to America.  Most of us Jacob breeders
are in it to help preserve an endangered breed instead
of a more profitable breed and the only way to
preserve a breed is to register them to assure they
truly are the actual breed.  I hope in the future all
those of you who love this breed will make the extra
effort to register your animals and make sure the next
generation of shepherds have the option of also having
this endangered breed and join us in the information
and marketing efforts.  The more involved, the better
