I agree, we have to trim feet several times per year. Sometimes even three.
Our soil is some of the best in the country... for vegetables. No rocks, no
hills, no debris, nothing. We practice MIG on irrigated pasture, and shed
lamb. Were hoping to stop lambing in the barn here as soon as I finish
getting my grazing contracts in order with a couple of local alfalfa
farmers, but as long as we live in the San Joaquin Valley on sandy loam and
a small acreage we're going to be trimming feet. We dip navels, but that
goes back to lambing in a barn too. That's amazing hearing about lambs being
born in -10 and 15 degree weather, and I was worried about my lambs this
winter in 30! Its always great to be reassured of how incredibly hardy
Jacobs are!

Just out of curiosity, has anyone noticed weather or not lilac Jacobs do
better in hot weather than do their black and white piers? Just wondering, I
had been thinking about it and am going to pay particular attn. this summer.
