Hi Lorraine.
Your ewe lamb is normal, the boys, especially the 2 Horn rams are born with a good bit of horn, and it is sometimes nearly a month before I figure out what the girls have!

138 days is a surprise. Mine all carried 147-154 this year. I had one at 142 a few yrs ago that was a bit early, and they were triplets, and not really ready. We lost 1 of them.

My Jacobs are born , for the most part, wound up like a clock.. They are usually up and RUNNING in an hour or 2 and are playing within 12 hours of their birth.....

I have a 2-week-old ewe lamb that I have yet to see or feel horn buds on.
s this within "normal"? Her twin ram has definite buds for 2 horns,
hough they aren't yet sticking up much. Also, I had a second-time lamber
ive birth at 138 days, or less (the 138 would be if she were mounted that
irst day, which I don't think she was). Both ewe and ram lambs were 7
ounds and seem quite healthy, other than a little more unsteady on their
ong legs the first day than others we've had. Is the gestation range for
acobs wider than other breeds? Or do individuals vary that much?
Lorraine
