[Jacob-list] scrapie

While I am not speaking for NC or any other state, my experience and conversations with the USDA veterinarian in our area (WV) has always said when programs are not being utilized fully over a period of time, the funding will be cut. It is a "use it or lose it" kind of thing in the government.

              Just for clarification, who is the "they" that USDA thinks is    scrapie free?  Your farm, North Carolina, or USA?  Do you think that    they are saying that status has improved so that funding can be cut,    or because the status is really that good?

The USDA vet just visited me and          it sounds like in the near future it really will not matter as          they are close to saying we are scrapie free. Apparently NC          had a lot of little flocks that they don't seem to be able to          find so she thinks they are no longer around and NC was low in          the percentage of checked flocks.
