Thank you for your kind words, it is very much appreciated. We who have
Jacobs know how special they are. I find I love lambing time because each is
absolutely unique with their spotting. Each one seems more breathtaking
than the last.

Our sheep never cease to amaze me. I am sorry for your loss of such a

and Freedom sounds like she certainly was.

Hello everyone
It is with great sadness our family mourns the loss of BLUE EWE FREEDOM a
few days ago. A very special sheep with tons of character & personality
who
came to us in her later years. We were thrilled to have her, and
seriously miss her calling to us each morning.
Special thanks to Shari Staines (Never Winter Farm) for allowing Freedom
to join us. Everyone can be assured she thoroughly loved her life here.
Always interested in visitors & insisting on meeting anyone who came to the
farm. Very Intelligent she figured out how to get you to do what she
wanted,
she therefore spent her time following us around, preferring people
companionship. She usually had the run of the area around the house and
barns,
often showing up in my husbands workshop to lay on one of his cushy rubber
mats either inside in the air conditioning (using our Great Pyrenees doggy
door much to his dismay) or outside this door on a mat to sun herself.
Being a clean & tidy sheep, she housebroke herself, always stepping
outside
the door to potty, which my husband adored her for. We always felt she
came
in to listen to the music on the radio, and monitor what was going on.
She
could keep order among the rest of the flock, simply by starring at any
one of them. One withering look to a ram or a misbehaving lamb, and
everyone
bowed to her wishes, never questioning her absolute "Queen" status. She
was a wise girl, very level headed, with a calming influence, and was a
great
mother. Her most valuable trait to me was her immune system. It was
second to none with super parasite resistance that I have never seen in
any
other sheep of any breed. Her pretty fleece with a deep steel blue/gray
coloring, sweet temperament, & lovely body type, are but a few of the
wished for
traits of any shepherd/shepherdess.
She seems to have made a contribution to the breed passing on her quality
to her offspring from what I have heard. She had lambs with Spahr Farm
Sheffield, 4 Horn Farms Baa None, & Springrock Shadrach over the years,
all
handsome top quality boys. She is survived by her offspring from these
rams:
Dilly, Eostre, Skye, Elizabeth, Carolyn, Merlin, Luna, Poppy, Blazing
Star, Ringo's Albus, Miracle. She is survived here by her sons. I
apologize if
I've missed any, I do not know much about her younger years.
Suffice it to say that we miss her greatly. To those of you who have
children & grandchildren of her and had never met her, we thought you
would
like to know of her passing as well as how special she was. Thank you for
letting us share this wonderful Jacob with you. If anyone has anything
to share
on her progeny, we'd love some cheering up about now!
