Mostly I’m looking at their ability to place their hooves straight instead of toeing out. When people used to talk about “cow –hocked” Jacobs, I think they were speaking of the primitive trait that you describe. The difference in true cow-hocked is that they toe out, which is a fault that leads to mobility problems.

what do you mean by track straight? I think that's what I have been calling "tracking" in my primitive girls. As they walk, they place each foot directly in front of the opposing foot. Kind of like a runway model, except naturally. It's something I like and select for.

We used to say that Jacob's sheep had a "narrow stance". The lower portions of the legs should be vertical to the ground and the animal should track straight, but both front and rear legs may angle in from the shoulders and hips.
