[Jacob-list] Broken horn

Broken horns are usually no big deal with ewes... especially the 4 horn
ones. If the horn broke off clean, the bleeding has stopped, and the sheep
is not acting funny, then usually she'll heal normally and maybe regrow
some of the horn. If you're in a warmer climate and you're worried about
infection, you can always spray some blu kote type disinfectant on it to
aid healing and keep the flies out (don't spray it in the sheep's eye).

At least one ewe tends to get a lateral horn knocked off during the regular
course of things each year here at our farm. As long as a skull isn't
broken, and as long as the break is clean and able to heal, then usually
the sheep just has a headache for a few days and then is fine. If the sheep
damages a horn but doesn't knock it off, then usually you want to keep a
close eye on things, as you don't want a loose horn to become infected.
