[W126 Coupe] main air flap is bass ackwards

Richard:  returning to this topic for a moment.  I had the occasion to 
repair yet another 126 chassis climate control element this past weekend.  I 
just want to make sure that what you perceive to be open is in fact open. 
The resting state of the main air flap door when the ACC is off is closed. 
Closed = the main air door is pulled up to the firewall not down to where 
you can easily see and touch it.  This latter position is open while as you 
look at it and it appears closed to the cabin.

So to restate the obvious, after repairing your vacuum elements and with the 
system off, the door should have been up and tight to the firewall fresh air 
intake leaving the top of the blower fan exposed to the cabin (basically 
recirculation mode) or closed to outside fresh air.  If before the repair 
this door was down to the cabin frame then it was in fact hanging open and 
the vac elements were leaking preventing it from being pulled up to the 
firewall.  Confused or does this make sense now?
