[W126 Coupe] Wheels

Just whilst all this wheel talk is going on, how do I calculate the
required offset or spacer to get a 17x9 rim on the rear as far out as
possible without rubbing on my H&R equipped SEL?
The rims I am looking at are 17x9 with an offset of 29. I also have a
set or H&R spacers that are 15mm which I can use if need be.
Cheers
Matt.

I 'll say what I said in my original post again - 8J with et23 works
ABSOLUTELY FINE, even on a lowered SEC. This statement takes into
account
width and offset of wheel.
Infact, 8.5J with ET 25 works ABSOLUTELY fine on the W126. If you don't
believe me, just look at Satish's SEC - 2-piece original AMG wheels,
8.5J x
18 fronts with ET 25mm. Absolutely perfect. And no spacers.
The stock wheels, 7.5J with ET 25 are not anywhere near proper. They sit
so
deep inside the arch. So bringing the wheel half inch out does NOT mean
the
wheel will rub the arch. Because it sits further than half inch away in
the
first place. Infact i sits more than an inch away.
My AMG lowered 500SEC wears original AMG 5-spoke wheels designed for the
W126 : 8J x 16 ET 11 - NO rubbing problems at anytime. And this car
wears
the lowest AMG springs.
With 18's, you can go to 8.5" width and ET 25mm and it will work fine,
so
long as the car is not aggresively lowered.
