Dan,

What did you do to get your car running again?

If I recall correctly, when you disconnect the plug from the air valve the
idle should jump to about 1500.  When you apply 12v to the 2 pins on the air
valve the idle while drop about 500.  If the idle doesn't drop, I'd look for
an air leak.

Also, the Throttle Position switch can cause high idle if the
Throttle-Closed switch is open at idle.  The Throttle Position switch has a
3 pin connector mounted at the right (standing in front of the car) front of
the engine, near the cold start injector.  The middle pin is common and the
outer pins go to one the Throttle Close switch and the other to the Throttle
Wide-Open switch.
