Your advise "Go genuine", does that mean mercedes part. The glass shop =
told me it cost $110.

Well, a glass shop can handle everything if there is no rust under the
window/seal. If there is rust, a body shop will need to repair it..=20
As a low budget thought, you might be able (if the rust isn't BAD) to
get away using POR15 products.
Yes, you will need a new seal.
Go genuine on the seal, it's worth it.
