Everything I have ever read both here and in magazines suggests that the =
absolute best is the Valentine 1 (www.valentine1.com). The only thing =
negative I've ever read about it was in Autoweek (I think, may have been =
motor trend) saying that it gives more false alarms than whatever the =
top escort is, but if you ask me, false alarms are better than no =
alarms. Sadly, it's not battery powered. Don't know about the lighter =
socket, but I bet a new unit isn't very expensive.

Can anyone recommend a good radar detector?=A0 I live in Maryland, where =
they are legal, but they are illegal in Virginia and DC (where I drive =
regularly).=A0 If there have been previous posts, I don't want to =

coud find the information that would be super.=A0 I need to balance =
effectiveness with ease of use, as I don't have time to do a lot of =

have any thoughts as to whether the battery powered ones are any =
good?=A0 I would like to be able to take it from car to car.=A0 Also, I =
have had trouble with getting any power adapters to work in my coupe -- =
the lighter socket seems to want to push out anything I stick in there - =
