Hi Steve- I like your idea of not repeating the previous messages. Also, I wonder if you can help me. I sometime get pages and pages of all letters and numbers. Is that suppose to be a picture? If so, how can I change my computer setting to see the picture instead of whole bunch of meaningless alpha letters and numbers. Thanks for your help

Before I take my car (1989 SEC) in for repairs. I need help re. the
typical costs of the following repairs: Are these repairs considered
  major (like immediate?

  1. Motor Mounts

  2. Linkage Bushing (tighten)

  3. Hydraulic Fluid Flush

  4. Fuel Injection Cleaning

Must a MB mechanic do the repairs? Any recommendations on
shops/mechanics in the San Diego area? Thanks, Guy.

  Bill,

Are you sure about that? I could have sworn there was an arrestable
amount of speeding inmy driver's handbook (of course over 4 years things
could change). Also, I'm 99% positive in VA 25 over in a 55 or higher
  zone is automatically reckless operation.

  Richard

You can be arrested for driving 10 mph over the limit it depends on the
circumstances. There is no set limit where it requires an arrest! It's
  called Driving to Endanger/Reckless Operation.

Bill, that million was obviously just meant to mean that no matter what
I'm doing I like to leave the left open for someone who may be doing
faster (i.e. don't be one of those people who says, well I'm doing 80 in
a 70, that's pretty fast, I'll just stay in the left). As far as your
fine formula, what state are you in that there is no jail time/license
  revocation?

  Richard

Richard the car that's moving back and forth out of the lane catches
more eyes! I like the middle lane because you have more options in case
of an emergency! Also (a radar secret) the greater the angle (cosine
effect) of the radar unit the lower the speed-reading of the target
  vehicle!

Yes if your alone on the highway, expressway, freeway etc, it just
doesn't matter what lane your in doing a million mph. So don't make
believe you're out front on the last lap of the Daytona 500 unless you
  want to PAY the prize!

Someone asked about fines for speeding, it's a simple formula: $10.00
for each mph over the limit! So 100 mph in a 65 mph is $350.00 not
counting insurance hikes and points on your license!

Now Bill, you say stay in the fast lane...isn't that the lane that the
has a closer eye kept on it? I use the left as it should be used: a
passing lane. If I'm doing 1million mph I'll still go back to the right
if it's empty since the left should be there in case someone is doing 2
  million.

  Richard

In San Diego the judge will not issue on a ticket less than 15 mph over
speed limit (freeway driving only-dry road).

  Bill,
Are you sure about that? I could have sworn there was an arrestable
amount of speeding inmy driver’s handbook (of course over 4 years things
could change). Also, I’m 99% positive in VA 25 over in a 55 or higher
  zone is automatically reckless operation.

You can be arrested for driving 10 mph over the limit it depends on the
circumstances. There is no set limit where it requires an arrest! It’s
  called Driving to Endanger/Reckless Operation.

Bill, that million was obviously just meant to mean that no matter what
I’m doing I like to leave the left open for someone who may be doing
faster (i.e. don’t be one of those people who says, well I’m doing 80 in
a 70, that’s pretty fast, I’ll just stay in the left). As far as your
fine formula, what state are you in that there is no jail time/license
  revocation?

Richard the car that’s moving back and forth out of the lane catches
more eyes! I like the middle lane because you have more options in case
of an emergency! Also (a radar secret) the greater the angle (cosine
effect) of the radar unit the lower the speed-reading of the target
  vehicle!
Yes if your alone on the highway, expressway, freeway etc, it just
doesn’t matter what lane your in doing a million mph. So don’t make
believe you’re out front on the last lap of the Daytona 500 unless you
  want to PAY the prize!
Someone asked about fines for speeding, it’s a simple formula: $10.00
for each mph over the limit! So 100 mph in a 65 mph is $350.00 not
counting insurance hikes and points on your license!

Just a heads up, if the fuel injectors are bad, don't bother with a
cleaning, just replace them. They are less than $43 per from Rusty, and
if you'll be paying for the labor why not just replace the parts and
know it will work? Oh, and I think motor mounts are about 250, but I'm
  not sure.

Before I take my car (1989 SEC) in for repairs. I need help re. the
typical costs of the following repairs: Are these repairs considered
  major (like immediate?

  1. Motor Mounts

  2. Linkage Bushing (tighten)

  3. Hydraulic Fluid Flush

  4. Fuel Injection Cleaning

Must a MB mechanic do the repairs? Any recommendations on
shops/mechanics in the San Diego area? Thanks, Guy.

Really? I know my mom got a ticket in VA for 10 over on a dry, empty,
stretch of highway. I think VA may be one of the worst when it comes to
speeding tickets, and they have some of the trickiest traps too. Instead
of NC (for the most part) or MD where they set the traps up so you see
them (which is effective in getting people to slow down), VA puts the
traps so that they are almost invisible (which is effective in giving
  tickets).

In San Diego the judge will not issue on a ticket less than 15 mph over
speed limit (freeway driving only-dry road).

No, PLEASE don't do it that way. It screws it up for those of us that
have intelligent mailers that sort by threads. That will put both
  subjects in the same thread.

Instead, just create a new message and send it to mbcoupes at mbcoupes.com.

And please trim your posts. We don't need to see the 5 pages of
previous replies to a message on a different topic.

  Thanks,
  Steve

You're right!! It seems VA is more prone to giving speeding tickets
(revenue) than CA. Ca, you either driving 80-90 mph or you stopped
  because of traffic.

  Bill,
Are you sure about that? I could have sworn there was an arrestable
amount of speeding inmy driver's handbook (of course over 4 years things
could change). Also, I'm 99% positive in VA 25 over in a 55 or higher
  zone is automatically reckless operation.

Now Bill, you say stay in the fast lane.isn't that the lane that the has
a closer eye kept on it? I use the left as it should be used: a passing
lane. If I'm doing 1million mph I'll still go back to the right if it's
empty since the left should be there in case someone is doing 2 million.

  Sir Guy:

Motor Mounts: if the engine is rocking in the cradle at idle or if you get
a vibration on accelerating and it is obvious that the mounts have collapsed
it's worthwhile to get them done. But, you can drive with poor mounts (the
engine will not fall through to the earth) for an extended period of time.

Linkage bushing: need a specific linkage or bushing by name or location to
  answer this

Hydraulic fluid: Brakes. car on a lift, brake fluid reservoir drained off
to a couple mm, pressurized vessel with new Dot 4 Plus attached and then
just bleed until new fluid flows off each caliper in this order. Passenger
rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front. Total time less than an
hour and typically done once a year (MB suggests Spring as best time) I'd do
it now if you are not sure when and if it was ever done to prevent premature
  failure of costly brake components.

Fuel injection cleaning: sure, why not if it smoothes out a rough idle or
improves acceleration performance great. Drop a can of BG-44 in the fuel
tank and go. If you are going for a more sophisticated injector cleaning
where they check spray pattern and the whole nine yards, I'd ask how much
and see if it equates to the replacement costs of new injectors, seals and
  whatnot first.

My parting thoughts, are you using a MB dealership or a reputable
  independent MB mechanic?

  Dick
