My "84 500 SEC lived it's first 4 years in Germany and they was shipped
over to the US. I believe it was purchased by an Air Force officer. As
it was a Euro, when it got here they had to "Americanize" it. (What a
shame.) I guess he had the same problem back then!
So what are they mostly looking for? Newish or classic MBs?
Interesting.

"Interesting tidbit of info: Here in Germany I can go to any
dealership,
of any European or Scandinavian built ca,r and order a US Specs car
for
delivery here. Most times get invited to the factory for a tour and
pickup
at little or no extra cost, except one manufacturer.
The exception? Mercedes Benz. If I want a US Specs MB I must, yes
MUST,
order it through a US dealership. If I want to pick it up here I have
to
get the European Delivery option which includes Plane tickets (I
already
live here), hotel rooms in different cities for a tour of Germany and
vehicle
shipping (the military would do that for free). You cannot believe
how
many folks over the years have asked me to go with to MB and try to
order
a US Specs new MB and wind up buying something else to take home.
To make it better, some Europeans are now buying MB's from the USA,
mostly
older ones. Since the exchange rate is so far in their favor it is
cheaper
to buy it there and ship it back then buying it here, even with
customs."
