Tracy,

In response to you question I would take a look at possible the vacuum line
had popped off the AT Modulator Valve located on the left side of the
transmission. Or the other possibility is the AT Modulator Valve has gone
bad.
If you shifter is really wobbly its like the busing had broke, but the
chances of it coming off are near impossible because there is a retainer
clip. So, I don't think that is your problem. I had something similar
on a 420sel. Its was like diving a stick it would go but the shifting just
keep getting progressive worse. The stealership said I need a new
transmission right away due to having 280,000 miles. But it shifted fine and
had always been serviced. I just was not buying there answer. I went on a
hunch and took it some where else. I replaced the AT Modulator Valve on the
transmission. That solved the problem in my case. Its shifts perfectly and
the new place said that eventually it would just stop shifting. So, I don't
know but I'd kind of think that may be your problem. I know there is the
valve, O-Ring and rubber cap that all come as an assembly and its rather
simple to install. You need a vacuum gauge to dial it in properly for the
shift points but members here on the sight say you can tweak it. I
Installed mined and was not able to tweak it properly. So, I had the new
place do it they only charged me 60 bucks. So, I can't complain.

Jason
